With the advent of global communications and the move towards the æelectronic

of companies, Sage Line 50 has introduced new e-Banking
features into Sage Line 50. These new features allow you to electronically
reconcile your actual bank statement against the bank statement in Sage
Line 50 and analyse transactions in your bank account against the transactions
in your Sage accounting program.
(Financial Controller and Accountant Plus Only) The Cheques option
provides you with the ability to automatically generate cheques for all
transactions of type PP and PA that have a blank reference and have not
already been printed. You can even print cheques from your bank payment
transactions. The Cheque Printing facility is up-to-date with all legislative
requirements.
Sage Line 50 lets you keep a record of all the products you sell.
To work with your products, choose the Products option from the Sage Line
50 toolbar.

Use the new Update Ledgers button to update your purchase ledger from a purchase order and create an invoice. This additional feature saves you time as you no longer have to re-enter details of the orders to create an invoice.
The new Sales Order Fulfilment option allows you to generate a purchase order from outstanding sales orders that cannot be created from existing stock levels. This feature is essential for any company that holds a limited amount of stock, or for businesses that work using a æJust-In-TimeÆ ordering schedule.
If you have a lot of accounting data in your Sage Line 50 program, it
may take a long time to find the transaction that you need. Now there
are two types of search facility to help you access your data quickly
and easily.
The Global Search facility is available throughout Sage Line 50, and can
be defined for customers, suppliers, nominal accounts and product records,
as well as invoices and sales and purchase orders. You can even set up
and save a search that you use frequently, so that you can use it again
later.
Use the ActiveSearch
to speed up data entry. The ActiveSearch
works by finding the closest matches to what you are typing and displaying
them in a popup
list for you to select from. There are two types of ActiveSearch;
the Reference and Recent Items popup
list. The Reference popup
list finds the closest match as you begin typing a word. The Recent Items
list remembers the last 32 entries made in that field or list.
Not all businesses run a twelve-month financial year. You can now use the Change Financial Year facility to extend or shorten your financial year.
Asset disposal has been made even easier. The fixed asset disposal procedure has now been automated as a wizard routine to make the entire process quicker. The routine uses details from the Fixed Asset record meaning that there is less chance of making an error.

You can now distribute your company reports using e-mail. When you choose
the Run button from the Reports window, the report is sent to all e-mail
addresses that you have previously specified using the Report Designer.
If you have SageCover and have an active Internet connection, you can now
e-mail support queries directly to Sage. The product version number, problem
category and contact details are all sent as part of the e-mail message
allowing you more time to work on your accounts, while knowing that Sage
Customer Support are working to solve your query.
You can now export your Sage Line 50 data into Microsoft Outlook, Excel
and Word. Export your contact information to Outlook. Export your accounting
information to Word or Excel to create professional reports and business
plans.
Sage Line 50 version 8 also has improved integration with other Sage products,
including the new Sage e-commerce
suite of products.
It's even easier to keep your data safe. Your data is now automatically checked before you make a backup. The routine also remembers where your backup is to help prevent you from accidentally overwriting existing files when you restore your data.
The report facility has been reviewed and changed to create an improved
reporting tool. You can now e-mail reports to your business partners,
invoices to your customers and acknowledgement messages to your suppliers.
To help people new to report creation, we have also changed the Reporting
Wizard to make it more intuitive and easy-to-use.
There are more automated routines in your new Sage Line 50 v8 program. From disposing of fixed assets to creating a new report, routines have been automated or simplified to save you time and to simplify your everyday accounting tasks.
